This service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and what choices you have.

1. Summary

• No sign-up, no login and no password. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number. So that your points and progress have somewhere to live, the app creates an anonymous account automatically the first time it runs.
• Location access is optional. If you grant it, it is used only to show weather for where you are. If you deny it, the app remains fully usable through city search.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time — in the app under Settings, or by following the steps on our account deletion page.
• The app is supported by advertising. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.
• We do not sell your personal information.

2. Location data

Peek Outside requests the Android permissions ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION. These are requested in the foreground, only when needed to show weather for your current position.

• Your coordinates are sent to our weather service to request a forecast for that place.
• Location access can be denied or revoked at any time in Android settings; the app continues to work with cities you search for and save manually.
• The app does not request background location, and does not track your movements over time.

3. Account, points and rewards

The app is fully usable without logging in, but rewards need somewhere to live. On first launch the app signs you in silently and creates an anonymous account. We store:

Linking a Google account is optional. Everything in the app works without it; linking only changes what happens if you reinstall or switch devices. You are never asked for a password, and we never receive your Google password.

4. Information collected automatically

When you use the app, certain technical information may be processed automatically:

• Device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and region.
• Network information such as IP address (used to serve requests and, by advertising partners, to select ads).
• Diagnostic and crash data used to find and fix errors and to measure app stability and usage.

We do not collect your name, email address or phone number unless you contact us by email, in which case we receive the address you write from.

5. Third-party services

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Each provider's own privacy policy applies to its processing:

Advertising identifiers may be used to show ads that are more relevant to you. Where required, consent is requested before personalised advertising is enabled, and you can reset or limit your advertising ID in Android settings.

6. Weather data

Forecast data shown in the app and on this website is provided by the following upstream services. This is meteorological data for a place, not personal information about you.

Forecast values are indicative and may differ from official local sources.

7. How information is used

• To show current conditions and forecasts for your location or the cities you save.
• To operate your account and the rewards programme — points, tasks, levels and redemptions.
• To restore your points and progress if you reinstall or change devices (only when you have linked a Google account).
• To display advertising that funds the free app.
• To measure stability, diagnose errors and improve the service.
• To meet legal and regulatory requirements and respond to lawful requests.

8. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as needed to provide the service, to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes and to enforce our agreements. Saved cities and preferences are stored on your device; removing the app removes them from that device.

Account data — your account identifier, device identifiers, points, progress and rewards — is kept while your account exists, and is deleted or anonymised when you delete your account. Transaction records may be retained in anonymised form where we are required to keep them for accounting or legal purposes.

9. Security

We use commercially acceptable means to protect information. No method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We review our collection, storage and processing practices regularly.

10. Children

These services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we delete it.

11. Your choices and rights

• Deny or revoke location access in Android settings.
• Reset or limit your advertising ID in Android settings.
• Delete your account and its data — in the app under Settings, or see the account deletion page for how to request it by email. Deleting your account removes the account identifier, the device identifiers attached to it, and your points, progress and rewards.
• Request access to, or a copy of, the information we hold about you by contacting us.

California residents may request a notice disclosing the categories of personal information shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. Please allow 30 days for a response; we may ask for proof of identity before answering.

12. Links to other sites

This service may contain links to other sites. External sites are not operated by us, so we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content or practices of any third-party sites or services.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. You are advised to review this page periodically.
